Acne, pimples, and breakouts are collectively known medically as acne, and are a common chronic condition of the sebaceous glands. The cause is that during puberty, hormones in the body stimulate hair growth and sebaceous glands secrete a lot, resulting in clogged pores forming a core of acne – microcomedones. Microcomedones are invisible, and it takes 7 to 9 months for a microcomedone to form and grow out of the skin’s surface. Microcomedones clog pores and induce inflammation, which is the origin of pimples, pustules, nodules and cysts. Conventional treatment only removes the surface acne, and the microcomedema grows back after a period of time, resulting in recurring acne flare-ups.
Skin Classification
Oily skin: characterized by thick skin, obvious pores, part of the pores are very large, cool like orange peel. The sebum secretion, especially in the face and T-shaped area can be seen oily; skin texture rough, easy to be polluted; antibacterial power is weak, easy to have acne; poor adhesion, easy to fall off after makeup; oily skin makeup easy to spend off.
Neutral skin: smooth and delicate skin, lustrous, fine pores, moderate oil and moisture, looks rosy, smooth, without flaws and elastic. Not too sensitive to external stimuli, should not be wrinkled, makeup is not easy to fall off.
Dry skin: skin texture is delicate, thin, pores are not obvious, sebum secretion is less and even, no greasy feeling. The skin is relatively dry and looks clean, delicate and beautiful. This kind of skin is not easy to have acne, and strong adhesion, makeup is not easy to fall off after makeup.
Combination skin: Skin that has two different properties at the same time is combination skin. It is usually oily on the forehead, nose and chin, with large pores and more oil secretion, and even acne can occur, while other parts show the characteristics of dry or normal skin.
Sensitive skin: delicate and fair skin, less sebum secretion, drier. It is characterized by easy skin allergy, redness, swelling and itching.
According to the causes of acne formation can be divided into the following 3 categories.
1. Classified by etiology: cosmetic acne, mechanical acne, occupational acne, chloracne, neonatal acne, infantile acne, and adult acne.
2. By lesion form: inflammatory acne, non-inflammatory acne, and scar marks.
3. By severity: mild acne, moderate acne, severe acne.
